Freek Mestrini, 2001 to 2006
Freek Mestrini was born on September 12, 1946 in Heerlen (Netherlands) as the son of a miner. By the age of six he began taking flugel horn lessons from the local music club.
Given his incredible ability at such a young age, at the age of 17 he was invited to audition for the Marine Band of the Royal Dutch Navy. He auditioned with great success. At the age of 22 he became first trumpet in the Marine Band of the Royal Dutch Navy and in the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.
In the year 1973 his musical travels took him to Bavaria where he became first flugel horn for Ernst Mosch and his Original Egerländer Musicians. During the following 20 years he and the orchestra were very successful and he was able to write numerous arrangements for the Mosch music publishers.
One area in which Freek Maestrini has celebrated great success is in musical compositions. His works are a notable component of many concerts in Holland, Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and South Tyrol. By now his collection of works have reach about 500 compositions and arrangements. As an academic lecturer, his training seminars are long known as invaluable and therefore always have great appeal.
